• Create a fun, disciplined learning environment
• Set realistic, attainable goals for each student from one lesson to the next
• Expect beginning students to practice 4 to 5 times per week for 20 to 30 minutes each
session (Practice is key and involves a lot of repetition).
• Help students understand what constitutes good sound, and how to produce that sound on
the instrument through proper stroke and fluid technique
• Teach technique as a means to an end
• Strive to make music in our lessons, which means paying attention to detail
